Great seating and great service. The pancakes are hugh and tasty. The bacon is delicious in fact everything we ate was and they are large portions. The orange juice is fresh squeezed. Come early cause they fill up fast.

If you love Cracker Barrel you'll live Black Bear. Delicious comfort food -used to go to the one in Colorado when the freezing cold got to be too much.Hearty, delicious comfort food in big portions so come hungry and don't expect refined dining. This is down home delicious food like biscuits and gravy.

I went for the first time and it was a great experience. The staff is great and so are the regular customers. Definitely felt very welcome. And the food portions are huge. I loved the freshly squeezed orange juice

Food is yummy and huge portions-- they tend to get pretty busy so you don't always get much attention after you get your food. Clearly this hasn't stopped me from going as I've been here a few times, so don't be discouraged based on my review.

Not satisfied with my waitress. Got seated and waited for someone/anyone to acknowledge me and my wife. After about 5min of patiently waiting I had to ask a waitress passing by. Not a great first time experience. Fortunately, the available waitress was kind, pleasant and very helpful. Food was abundant and above all delicious. Staff does seem overwhelmed.

Mama bear Jeanette is always so pleasant to see when we first walk in, she always makes us feel so welcomed and happy. Every time we’ve been there no matter who the server was they always gave us such wonderful service. The food is so delicious.

Good place for comfort food. Portions are large enough for leftovers or a belly ache if you clear your plate.😂 Make sure you get cornbread, best I have ever had.

I live between the Torrance & Signal Hill stores. I prefer Torrance because of the service I receive from the staff and especially from Jeanne (Mama Bear), and Carlos. The store is always busy, but the wait is never unbearably long

Black Bear Diner can get busy, especially on the weekends. If you don't mind waiting for 10-15 minutes, the wait is worth it. It's a great place to get pretty much any traditional fare you can think of. They have very good prices and you get a lot of food. I've never had it, but they have a HUGE burger that I've seen several people get. It's so big it nearly takes up the dinner plate it is served on. They have a cool way their menu is presented. It's on a "daily newspaper" that has local news on it, along with their daily menu. The service is friendly and very good. We have been many times and have not had any bad meals or service. I give four stars, only because of the wait. We started going because we always saw a lot of people waiting so we figured the wait must be worth it. It is!

Great traditional diner with HUGE portions! The employees here are SUPER NICE! (Exceptionally so!) The food here is very good. While it can get busy - especially on weekend mornings - once you've tried the food, you'll understand why!

Been going here about 25 years. John is really nice and fun. The food is good especially the muffins. Pumpkin, Blueberry and chocolate are favorites. The breakfast burrito is very filling. The new breakfast burger is great I get it on a croissant. Add a famous OI smoothie and your set!

Small seating area, always await. Very short wait times. Large portions but not cheap. Food is good and atmosphere is friendly. Must try is the chicken fried steak, it is huge.

Fast-growing restaurant chain now throughout the Western U.S., offering classic American dishes, including egg and pancake breakfasts, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and a wide variety of full dinner plates. The helpings are large and this comfort food is quite tasty. Semi-rustic atmosphere with the signature wooden bear carvings both inside and outside the diner. Ample parking in a convenient location. Try the Turkey Club for lunch. A definite step above other similar restaurants serving American fare.

Black Bear diner has been a favorite of mine for a while, lately though their service seems to be going downhill, I stopped at the light beer north of the grapevine for breakfast one morning and set there for a good ten minutes and never even got asked if I wanted coffee got up to leave and they asked sir can we help you I said no and turn around and walked out, stopped at the black bear in Torrance tonight the guy came took my drink order took my food order and then disappeared they set my taco salad up to be delivered and it sit there for five minutes before he finally showed back up to give you my taco salad he came back later asked if there was anything else I need and I told him I would like salsa he turned around and walked away like you didn't even hear me. a Black Bear diner wants to keep my business they better start working on their customer

If you're hungry, very very hungry, craving food because you've been starving yourself for a couple days, go here. Only then will you be able to finish a single dish without your stomach complaining.And that is absolutely great. No matter which meal you prefer (and I love all kinds of breakfast foods), you'll get such a giant amount of it in a single dish, you are guaranteed to satisfy whatever craving you may have had. And their food has the tastiness to match the serving sizes. Fantastic eggs benedict, pancakes so fluffy you want to fall asleep on them, bacon so savory and thick. Their menu offers something for everyone, and their waiters are brilliantly friendly and welcoming.Make sure to book a table when you plan on a bigger group, as there are usually lines at almost any point of the day.

This was my first time at this Black Bear Diner location and it definitely did not disappoint! Everyone is very welcoming and friendly as soon as you walk in the door. Our waitress was very courteous and quick to take our order and check in on us to make sure we were doing well. I had the classic two egg combo with their smoked bacon, which was amazingly good. The portions are large so come with a big appetite! The ambience is charming with the Black Bear theme throughout and a cool joke box playing tunes. I will be back again the next time I visit my sister.

Cute diner. Same vibe as a Carrows or Coco's. Busy, friendly waitresses. I enjoy coffee, but I'd skip their fancy, iced coffee drinks here. Something is sour. Not sure if it's the coffee or the creamer. Service very welcoming.

My husband and i have always enjoyed our time at black bear diner, no matter what time of the day or evening we always get great service and friendly servers and the most delicious food at great prices. Today one server stood out from from the rest at the torrence location her name is Katie. We had to let her manager know how great she was not just to us but to all of the other's we notice her serving. I never tipped a $20 on a $67 bill before in my life but i just had to when i saw how wonderful and pleasant she made not only my husband and i but everyone else as well. It was worth every penny. Please she deserves something special soon. Thank you from the extra satisfied couple she served today.

Had one of their double cheese big burgers and it was all I could do to finish it. I have eaten breakfast several times at the Bear here and at their location in Signal Hill and have never left hungry. Weekends get very crowded unless you come before 9 AM. Expect a 15-25 min wait on weekends after 10AM.

Have not yet come across a Black Bear Dinner that did not have great service or food. Normally come here for the burgers, biggest possible when hungry, however I did try the Bacon Cheeseburger Salad and surprisingly it was pretty good and the portion size was far larger than I thought it would be and only 850 calories it is not too bad. Unfortunately, the only thing missing from the Bacon Cheeseburger Salad was the Bacon. It was minor and did not notice until I essentially finished it.

Idk how to rate honestly because our waiter only came to our table when he was giving us our food, but he would go to other tables alot ... it took us 55min to get our actual food, and 15 min to get our to go boxes and our check. BUT the food was amazing the portion was huge. Serving rate 3/5 Food 5/5 Milkshakes 2/5

Been coming here for years and my family and I love it! So much food! be wary as everything is served in big portions so its awesome to share. We recommend you getting different plates and sharing it. Come here early on the weekends as its gets pretty busy now. There's usually a good amount of parking available in the back but sometimes I've had to park in the street. We were greeted and sat immediately. The manager I suppose or Big Mama Bear as she called her self came by and made us feel right at home, thank you!We usually always get the big foot country fried steak with pancakes! SO good, by far our favorite dish here. The orange juice is fresh so be sure to try that as well. We have good times here and enjoy coming here.

Best pancakes ever! Fluffy, moist, slightly sweet, and not as salty as most places. Sub a pancake for ANY side dish! And I love the kitschy bears like Disney Adventureland! 😂
